Want to decorate for the holidays without spending a lot of cash on decorations? We have the perfect solution for you. Follow this step-by-step tutorial on how to create a paper wreath, under $3! They are easy to make and super cute to hang. But don’t save all the fun for yourself, this is also a great activity to do kids!
You will need:
- Two pieces 9’ X 12’ of green construction paper
- 1 piece of red construction paper
- Staples
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Glue or Tape
- Ruler
Step 1: Tape the 2 pieces of 9’ X 12’ green construction paper together
Step 2: Fold both pieces of the Green construction paper in half the long way (hot dog style).
Step 3: Rule out 1inch from the open edge of the paper and draw a line with your pencil all the way down to the opposite end of your paper. This marks the No Cutting Zone! (This is important for later).
Step 4: Draw tic marks every ½ inch- 1 inch along the top and bottom of your paper. (The narrower the tics are the lacier the wreath will look). This shows were you will be cutting.
Step 5: Connect the tic marks with your ruler to make straight cutting lines. These lines will stop at the original line you drew for the No Cutting Zone.

Step 6: Cut along each line and make sure you do not go past the No Cutting Zone line! Do this down the length of both pieces of paper. ( it should look fringed once finished cutting)

Step 7: Now open it up… and roll it in the opposite direction that the crease was folding to make it into a tube like shape.
Step 8: Join and staple the ends together forming the wreath circular shape.
Step 9: Now add on the extras Bows, berries, etc. to add that special touch.
Just like that and you’re done, ready to hang your holiday wreath!
